"How do I properly install and configure the APC AP8704R-WW 1.2m for use as a remote power outlet in my home office setup?"
Gather the necessary equipment: APC AP8704R-WW 1. Ethernet cable, computer or network device, and a screwdriver. Find a suitable location for the remote power outlet. It should be near your home office setup but in a separate room or area to prevent electrical interference. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the AP8704R-WW's LAN port and the other end to your computer or network device. Connect a power cord from your surge protector to the AP8704R-WW's AC input. Then, connect your devices to the surge protector's outlets. Power on both the AP8704R-WW and your computer/network device. Access the AP8704R-WW's web interface by entering its IP address (default is 192. Log in using the default username and password ("admin" and "password," respectively). Go to the Remote Outlet tab to configure your devices. Here, you can enable or disable outlets remotely, set schedules for them, and monitor their power usage. Save any changes made and exit the web interface.

I recently purchased the APC AP8704R-WW 1.2m electrical accessory for my home office in Minneapolis where I work as an order filler. Sadly, my experience with this product has been less than satisfactory, and I would rate it 2 out of 5 possible.
One of the main reasons why I bought it is that it was advertised to have an IEC C14 contact for power source. However, when I received the product, I found that it did not fit snugly into the power outlet as other devices did. I was alarmed because it seemed like there was a loose fit and made me question whether it was safely powering my equipment.
On top of that, the IEC C13 connecter on this electrical accessory is poor quality compared to similar products I have seen. The plastic surrounding it seemed flimsy and cheap, and it was challenging to get it to properly connect to my devices.
Despite the product’s shortcomings, I was impressed by the ease of delivery to Minneapolis. The electrical accessory arrived only a few days after ordering it, and it was well-packaged and arrived in great condition.
I would not recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable electrical accessory. Instead, I would recommend looking into the Tripp Lite P006-010, which I have had a much better experience with. It has a sturdy IEC C13 connecter and fits more securely into the power outlet than the APC AP8704R-WW 1.2m electrical accessory.
