I recently purchased the Fossil Gen 4 Explorist HR FTW4017P, but unfortunately, I am not very impressed with it. I would rate it 2 out of 5 stars. The main reason for my disappointment is the accelerometer features. The watch does not seem to track my activity very well and often misinterprets my movements. This is a major drawback, especially as I bought it as an activity tracker.
Another issue I have with this smartwatch is the Bluetooth version. It only supports the outdated 4.1 version, which makes it frustrating to pair with my phone. Other smartwatches and activity trackers in the market have upgraded to newer Bluetooth versions, which makes pairing a breeze.
In comparison to other known smartwatches and activity trackers, the Fossil Gen 4 Explorist HR FTW4017P lacks essential features. Apple Watch Series 6 and Samsung Galaxy Watch3 both have advanced accelerometer features that accurately track workouts.
Lastly, the battery life of the Fossil Gen 4 Explorist HR FTW4017P is pretty mediocre, lasting only about a day or so. In contrast, the Fitbit Versa 2 lasts up to 5 days on a single charge.
Overall, I am disappointed with this purchase, and I would not recommend this smartwatch as there are better alternatives in the market with more advanced and accurate features.

I was excited to buy the Fossil Gen 4 Explorist HR FTW4017P in October as I heard it had numerous features. However, unfortunately, my experience has not been positive. Firstly, the battery life is poor, lasting only about a day. Secondly, the GPS accuracy is dodgy, and it sometimes takes a while to sync up with my phone. The 4.1 Bluetooth Version is another issue for me, as the connection keeps dropping. Furthermore, despite being a courier, I found that the step tracking is often inaccurate and doesn’t provide accurate information.
In comparison to my friend’s Apple Watch, the Fossil Gen 4 Explorist HR FTW4017P falls short in almost every aspect. The Apple Watch has a superior battery life, an accurate GPS and Bluetooth version, and the step tracking is spot-on.
As for delivery, it was prompt, no complaints there. I had to order online as there were no local shops that had it in stock, but it arrived within a week. The Black Colour-Strap looks cool too, but unfortunately, the functionality falls short for me.
Overall, I would rate this smartwatch a 2 out of 5. It simply doesn’t meet my expectations, and I would not recommend it to someone who is looking for a high-performing smartwatch.
