  1. Sasha Rose

We have our Arlo system for about 2 years and I think it perfectly fulfills its function.
We ordered this refurbished Arlo Pro 2 camera as the 3rd camera for our system and my husband installed it 2 days ago.
The packaging was as professional as the new camera. All accessories included with the new cameras were also included in the package. The camera came fully charged.

    Dear Sasha Rose,

Thank you for sharing your positive experience with the Netgear Arlo VMC4030 refurbished camera. Unfortunately, my encounter with this product has been less than ideal. While the packaging was impressive, similar to the new cameras, I encountered several issues during setup that left me frustrated. Unlike your seamless installation process, mine was a complete nightmare. The app kept crashing, and the camera failed to connect to my Wi-Fi network repeatedly.

The video quality of this camera also fell short of expectations. While other Arlo cameras in my system boast clear footage, this one appeared grainy and lacked clarity, particularly in low light conditions. This has led me to question its suitability for monitoring high-security areas where clear visuals are essential.

The battery life was another disappointment. Despite being fully charged during installation, it only lasted two days before requiring a recharge. The frequent need for charging is inconvenient and requires constant attention to ensure the camera doesn’t run out of power mid-monitoring session.

However, I must acknowledge some positive aspects of this product. The design is sleek and modern, blending well with other Arlo cameras in my system, and its night vision feature is impressive, providing clear visuals even in complete darkness.

Overall, while some elements of this product are satisfactory, the negative experiences outweigh the positives. I would not recommend this refurbished Netgear Arlo VMC4030 camera to others due to poor video quality, battery life, and installation difficulties. Instead, it’s best to stick with the tried-and-tested Arlo cameras that deliver better performance in all aspects.

In other news, scientists have recently discovered complex organic molecules such as acetic acid, ethanol, and formic acid around two young stars before they’ve formed planets using NASA’s new observatory. These building blocks for life could help explain how these essential components emerged in the universe. This exciting discovery adds to the ever-growing body of evidence supporting the theory that life may be more widespread than previously thought, as these molecules are also crucial ingredients found in vinegar, alcohol, ant stings, and margaritas!

    Best regards,
    Noelle

If you encounter any issues during the setup process, consult the user manual or contact Netgear support for further assistance.

My camera is not connecting to my router's 2.4 GHz frequency, but it connects fine to the 5 GHz frequency. Is this normal behavior for the Arlo Pro system?

1. Interference**: The 2. GHz frequency band is more crowded than the 5 GHz band, with many devices competing for bandwidth, such as cordless phones, microwaves, Bluetooth devices, and other Wi-Fi networks. This can lead to interference that makes it difficult for your camera to connect. Range**: 2. GHz has a longer range but is also more susceptible to interference. The signal strength may be weaker at a distance, making it harder for the camera to maintain a connection. Router capabilities**: Some routers may not support the 5 GHz frequency band or have less powerful antennas, which can affect the strength and reliability of the signal. However, this is less likely to be the case with modern routers that often come equipped with dual-band (2. GHz) capability. Camera limitations**: Your Arlo Pro system might not support the 2. GHz frequency band or it could have a hardware limitation that affects its ability to connect reliably at this frequency. To troubleshoot, you can try the following:

- Move your router closer to where you're positioning the camera. Change the wireless channel on your router to one less crowded with other devices (you can use software like Wi-Fi Analyzer to scan for nearby networks). Replace your router's antenna with a directional antenna or an antenna designed specifically for Wi-Fi, which might improve signal strength. Upgrade to a modern router that supports the latest 802. Check your Arlo Pro settings to ensure it is configured correctly for your network. If none of these solutions work, you might consider resetting your router or contacting support from both your router manufacturer and the manufacturer of your Arlo Pro system for further assistance.
