The Xiaomi Amazfit GT 42mm Glitter Edition Smartwatch & Activity Tracker is, without a shadow of doubt, one of the most technologically advanced wearable devices available on the market today – but I was sorely disappointed that it only managed to meet about 60% of my expectations. I had high hopes for this product after reading glowing reviews online and seeing it in person at the store located at 14460 Merced Ave #130, Baldwin Park, CA 91706, United States, but it fell short in several key areas.
To start with, while the design of the Glitter Edition is undeniably striking and elegant – perfect for both men and women – I was dismayed to find that its technical prowess was not enough to make up for some glaring gender inequities. For instance, the activity tracking features are incredibly detailed and comprehensive, providing insights into everything from daily steps to sleep patterns, but they are overwhelmingly geared towards male users. Even the heart rate monitor – one of the key selling points of this watch – seems to be calibrated specifically for men, often giving inaccurate readings for women who exercise regularly or have a naturally lower resting heart rate.
The gender bias does not end there. The Glitter Edition is also severely lacking when it comes to period tracking and other features that cater specifically to the needs of women.
