1 review for Garmin Vivofit 3

  1. Monk

After using vivofit 2 for a long time, I wanted to take advantage of the extended possibilities of vivofit 3, especially with regard to additional sports activities and, above all, automatic recording. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work at all, neither with the device I bought first, nor with the replacement device that I also sent back for this reason. Cycling was not automatically recognized by either of the two devices. If you start and stop manually, easy walking is recognized instead … 45 minutes of vigorous jogging was also interpreted as walking. In addition, automatic synchronization with a smartphone (Galaxy S8) did not work on both devices, it was only possible manually – with vivofit 2 there was no problem.
A tracker would probably be adequate as a pure step counter, but the vivofit 2 works there just as well when it comes to timing, even better, with the same specific and very good battery life.

My vivofit 3 is not tracking my heart rate during exercise, why is this happening and how can I fix it?

1. Interference from other devices**: Other electronic devices in the area, such as Bluetooth speakers or cordless phones, can interfere with the Vivofit 3's signal and prevent it from accurately measuring your heart rate. Insufficient battery power**: If the Vivofit 3 is running low on battery, it may not be able to transmit data reliably, including heart rate information. Make sure to charge your device regularly. Wrist position**: The Vivofit 3 uses a photoplethysmographic (PPG) sensor to measure heart rate by shining light through the skin and measuring changes in blood flow. If you're not wearing the device at an optimal angle, it may not be able to get a clear reading. Sweat or water exposure**: Excessive sweat or water exposure can damage the PPG sensor and prevent accurate heart rate tracking. Calibration issues**: If the Vivofit 3's calibration is off, it may not be able to accurately track your heart rate during exercise. To fix this issue, try the following:

1. Restart your device**: Sometimes a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues. Check for software updates**: Ensure that your Vivofit 3 is running the latest firmware. Go to the Garmin website and follow their instructions to update your device. Adjust the wrist position**: Try wearing the device at a slightly different angle or tightening the strap to ensure it's snug against your skin. Dry the device**: If you've been sweating heavily, try drying the PPG sensor with a soft cloth to see if that resolves the issue. Contact Garmin support**: If none of these steps resolve the issue, reach out to Garmin customer support for further assistance. If none of these troubleshooting steps work, it's possible that there's an underlying issue with your device or its hardware. In this case, you may need to contact Garmin about a warranty replacement or repair.
