Tool use is what turns a chatbot into an agent: the model can call external tools (web search, a code runner, file commands) and chain several steps to complete a job on its own.

It is one of the most important skills for real workflows, and not every model is good at it. In our benchmark the dense 27B model led on tool use, while the larger MoE model trailed.
